My 1936 project

Catalogue picture of the Q8 Empire Star
The BSA Empire Star, the masterpiece of the industry.

A long time ago I have set myself a target. I wanted to collect all 1936 BSA models listed in the catalogue for that year. When I started I imagined it would not be achievable because many models were only introduced that year and disappeared from the model line up the next year. This was due to the fact that BSA hired Val Page as its chief designer. Val Page radically modernised and standardised the BSA range for 1937.

The one off models for 1936 are the B18 Light de Luxe, R5 Empire Star, R19 Competition, R20 New Blue Star, Q7, Q8 Empire Star, Q21 New Blue Star and the M10.

However by now I am almost there collecting all 1936 BSA models. There is only one model still missing in my collection, which is the B3 de Luxe. After that I will have to find a new focus.
